"Stop Smoking with Hypnosis, and Know How You Did It!", the stop smoking hypnosis download written by Paul Douglass

Many women stop smoking during pregnancy, but a great many don't.  Smoking during pregnancy causes a great many dangers to both you and your baby.  The information given below is just an indication of some of the dangers of smoking in pregnancy... there are many, many more

Smoking and Pregnancy: Dangers to you.

  • Increased chance of abnormal bleeding during pregnancy, and miscarriage.

  • Many women find it difficult to breathe during pregnancy, due to the baby pushing on the lungs.  Smoking makes it harder still to breathe, and will also have the effect of causing a greatly increased rate of coughing.

  • Your body weighs more when you are pregnant, and your body needs more energy and oxygen to carry this extra weight.  Smoking robs your body of both of these.  Also, once your baby is borne, it will be harder to carry him of her around.

Smoking and Pregnancy: Dangers to your baby

  • When smoking in pregnancy, the chemicals in the cigarette smoke pass through the walls of your lungs, and into your bloodstream.  Your blood then passes around your body, and through the placenta and umbilical cord, directly entering your baby’s bloodstream.  The levels of these dangerous chemicals, including nicotine, are virtually as high in your baby’s blood, as in your own.

  • One of these chemicals, carbon monoxide, robs the blood of oxygen.  This can stop your baby from getting the oxygen it needs for growth, as well as preventing normal brain development.

  • Smoking decreases your baby’s chances of going to ‘full term’.  Babies born prematurely are weaker, smaller, and more prone to disease.

  • Women who smoke during pregnancy are more likely to have a stillborn baby.

  • Babies born to women who smoked during pregnancy (or smoke during the baby’s early life), are more likely to die from ‘Sudden Infant Death Syndrome’ (S.I.D.S.).

  • Smoking during pregnancy or in the first few years of your baby’s life, greatly increases the likelihood that the baby will develop asthma, either now, or later in life.

  • Smoking during the years of breast feeding, causes the chemicals in your cigarettes to be fed directly to your baby in your milk.
