What to expect if you stop smoking by willpower alone

Those who stop smoking by willpower alone, may find that their ability to concentrate on something for a long time may be affected.

When to expect it

If you stop smoking by willpower alone, this can happen anytime during the first week or two after giving up smoking, although up to a month wouldn’t be too unusual.

Why does it happen?

It is likely to be caused because the person not taking enough breaks.  In the past, smoking gave them an excuse to take a break every so often… now that they are not smoking, they might not be taking as many breaks as they did before. 

What you can do to help yourself

There are two main things that you could do to help yourself.

  • Take breaks, but try to avoid going to where everyone else will be smoking.  Go for a walk, read a magazine, make a cup of tea… whatever will give you a break without being exposed to passive smoking.
  • Secondly, you could consider a session of stop smoking hypnotherapy with me! - See below for an explanation of why this will help.

Why my clients find it easier

The 'need' to smoke comes from the individual's subconscious mind, weighing up the benefits of smoking, against the benefits of not smoking. 

The stop smoking hypnotherapy session sets about to change the subconscious balance, so that the person has no desire to smoke, because their subconscious mind finds that the benefits of not smoking, greatly outweigh the 'benefits' of smoking.

When this process happens, the mechanisms supporting these 'withdrawal symptoms' are no longer there.
