Side effects to stopping smoking by willpower alone - Tea Breaks
What to expect if you stop smoking by willpower alone
Someone who tries to stop smoking by willpower alone, may find that they associate smoking with tea of coffee breaks. They may find that drinking tea of coffee makes them want to smoke.
When to expect it
If someone has tried to stop smoking by willpower alone, may find themselves tempted. When it happens, and how long it lasts, varies from person to person, because it depend on the strength of association. This is a conditioned (learned) response, and can be ‘unlearned’ with time.
Why does it happen?
Over their years of smoking, their mind has formed a link between tea and coffee breaks, and smoking. So when they are in this particular situation, the link triggers a desire to smoke.
The mind links things all the time… if you smell something you like to eat, you salivate… because your mind has made a link between the smell, and the action of eating it… links like this also occur with smoking… for example, if you regularly used to smoke with a cup of coffee in the morning, then there will be a link in your subconscious between the smell of coffee, and smoking.
What you can do to help yourself
There are two main things you can do to help yourself...
- If you can, avoid the ‘stimulant’… in the above example of the morning cup of coffee, perhaps switch to tea or fruit juice. This idea is simply designed to stop you even thinking about having a cigarette in the first place. After all, the difference between a smoker and a someone who has never smoked, is that the person who has never smoked, doesn’t even think of having a cigarette in the first place.
- You could consider a session of stop smoking hypnotherapy with me! - See below for an explanation.
Why my clients find it easier
The 'need' to smoke comes from the individual's subconscious mind, weighing up the benefits of smoking, against the benefits of not smoking.
The stop smoking hypnotherapy session sets about to change the subconscious balance, so that the person has no desire to smoke, because their subconscious mind finds that the benefits of not smoking, greatly outweigh the 'benefits' of smoking.
When this process happens, the mechanisms supporting these 'withdrawal symptoms' are no longer there.
Stop Smoking Testimonials
"Hi Paul, hope you are well,
Just wanted to let you know it's been a week now since my therapy and I haven't smoked. In fact in a way it feels like I've never smoked.
I haven't had any cravings and I have no problem being around other smokers. The therapy has worked so well for me, I feel great and things in my life seem to be coming together nicely.
I have recommended you to 3 of my close friends.
I will continue to recommend you to people who could benefit from your treatment as I am over the moon with results I have seen in myself."
