Why do people believe it's hard to stop smoking?Smokers believe they are going to find it difficult to stop smoking. The simple truth is, however, that it is this belief that actually makes it hard for those people. So where does this belief come from? Every time a smoker puts out a cigarette, he has temporarily stopped smoking... and each time he lights the next one, he has started smoking again, and has therefore re-enforced his belief that when he stops smoking, he always goes back to it... Now, supposing he has smoked forty-a-day for thirty years... that's four hundred and thirty eight thousand times that belief has been re-enforced - It's no wonder he believes it !!!
