The fear of speaking in publicFear of public speaking is a form of social phobia which can manifest itself in a number of ways. The way that most people might think that a fear of public speaking would affect a person, would be when they were asked to give a presentation at work or a talk to a group of people However, a fear of public speaking can affect people in a far greater range of situations. Examples might be demonstrating something (such as an air hostess having to demonstrate life jackets), social situations in a large group of friends, or performing on stage in front of a crowd. Sufferers of a fear of public speaking may experience a sick feeling, a dry mouth, a stammer or stutter, and extremely high heart rate, or even a full anxiety or panic attack. However, it's entirely possible that people with a fear of public speaking will not display any of the other symptoms of social phobia. It's easy to see how much the fear of public speaking can have a detrimental effect on people like actors, salesmen, teachers, musicians, singers etc. FREE initial consultationPaul offers a FREE initial consultation for you to come along to meet him and have an informal chat about the ways that he can help you.
