How Does Hypnosis Help?Hypnosis in itself is quite simply an extremely relaxed state, and so it can be used by a skilled hypnotherapist, to focus the concentration of the mind. Much of the power of the mind resides in the subconscious part of our mind... it's the part of our mind that feels emotion, for example. Using hypnosis as a tool, the hypnotherapist can work on the subconscious part of the mind, changing the way a person feels about things. There is a lot of 'hidden', or 'stored' emotion in our minds, and this stored emotion affects the way we think and behave. Sometimes, problems can be caused if a person has a conflict, or imbalance, in the way in which the subconscious mind sees the world, if it's significantly different from the way the conscious mind does. Suggestion hypnotherapySuggestion hypnotherapy, is where using hypnosis, the hypnotherapist gives the subconscious part of the mind 'suggestions'. These suggestions, when absorbed into the subconscious part of the mind, will affect the way that part of the mind sees the world and deals with situations. Analytical hypnotherapy (or 'hypnoanalysis')Instead of giving the mind suggestions, analytical hypnotherapy works by releasing 'hidden' or 'stored' emotions that are already present in the subconscious parts of the mind. When someone is suffering from anxiety, panic attacks or phobias, is it because they have emotions hidden away in their mind that has become detached from the original cause of that emotion. Although detached, the emotion is still there, and is powering that person's particular fears. What analytical hypnotherapy sets out to do, is to release that emotion, so that it can no longer 'power' their fears.
