Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss.

If you've been considering hypnotherapy to help with weight loss, this page will help to explain which type of hypnotherapy might be right for you.

Many people find that when trying to lose weight, they generally fall into one of two categories:

1) Those people who have a little bit of weight to lose, and are looking for a little bit of encouragement and motivation to lose weight.

and

2) Those people who have quite a bit of weight to lose, and/or feel that their weight is due to emotions, or some underlying anxiety based problem. This might be someone who feels that they 'comfort eat', or 'eat when stressed', or maybe dive into a bag of sweets or chips when they've had a bad day at work.

If you've been considering hypnotherapy for weight loss, or maybe are considering hypnotherapy for the first time, you might be surprised to hear that hypnotherapy can be used to help with both of these types of weight loss, although the type of hypnotherapy used will vary for each of those categories of weight loss mentioned above.

Suggestion Hypnotherapy (Also known as suggestion therapy)

This type of hypnotherapy is used to treat those issues that don't really have any deep underlying anxiety causing them.

Suggestion therapy can be a single session, can be very relaxing, and can help to manage some problems very successfully.

It is best suited to you if you identify with the first category listed above, where you don't have an huge amount to weight to lose, don't feel that there's any underlying anxiety based issue, and are looking for a boost to your motivation.

Suggestion therapy can be done on a one-to-one basis with a therapist, where you will meet the therapist for a nice, relaxing hypnotherapy session (if you're in the UK, and would like to try suggestion therapy, make sure you check out the Find-a-Therapist service).

Pure Hypnoanalysis to Help With Weight Loss

The form of hypnotherapy known as 'Pure' Hypnoanalysis might be most suited to you if you feel that there IS an underlying anxiety, or emotional issue that is causing you to overeat (as mentioned earlier, things like 'emotional eating' may fall into this category).

'Pure' Hypnoanalysis seeks to find the root cause of a problem. When the root cause of a problem is resolved, the symptoms (i.e. the need to overeat) can disappear, and the change is for lasting good.

'Pure' Hypnoanalysis is a very specialised form of hypnotherapy that can only be practiced by specially trained hypnotherapists.
